Lordi from Finland wrote history at the Eurovision Song festival last night with a monster victory for their song "Hard Rock Hallelujah"
Not only did they have a totally off-style performance (Live Video), but they also gathered the most points ever scored in Eurovision Song Contest history. This was the first time for Finland to win this contest after participating 39 times.
Last night a few hundred people came to the streets of Helsinki to celebrate the victory. On Helsinki's Esplanadi young and old people sang the winning song and carried Finnish flags. Some of them were dressed up like their idols.
Lordi will arrive in Helsinki tonight. The official party for them will be held on Friday, the 26th of May. The location is still open. On Tuesday Lordi will give a press conference in their civil clothes, but no cameras will be allowed at this event.
The Helsinki Times Editorial Team congratulates Lordi and Finland for this spectacular victory.
Since Finland will now organize next years event, welcome to Helsinki next spring!
