Estonia is one of the most rapidly developing countries in the world -internet wise-. It has many revolutional projects, on how to make people's everyday life easier by using the opportunities that internet provides.
For example, Estonia has the first fully functional e-Government in the world. Estonians can also fill in their tax declarations straight through the web at the Estonian Tax Board. Or how about checking from e-school, what grades your kid got in school today?
I guess the most interesting way to be in touch with your government is when you can suggest what they should actually do or decide about. For that reason the Estonian government has created a portal called TOM.
TOM is an abbreviation from "Tana Otsustan Mina" - "Today I decide". It's a shame this is not available in English. People here can openly make suggestions about new laws that they would like to see or vote for those which have note been voted about yet in Parliament. You can even suggest a totally new law here yourself.
There are lots of interesting, important and intelligent suggestions made on the site, like "mother salary" that some claim should be provided, or the one that tries to make army-services on a volunteer-basis, or laws forbidding expensive election campaigns, and so on.
Of course you can find also funny suggestions here, like someone demanding a national order for giving birth or for taxation penalties for the childless citizens.
