Today started a traditional Reading Week in Finland. The Reading Week is spent every year in April. The schools, libraries and culture centers organize different kind of events, which purpose is to encourage people and especially children to read more.
This year the theme is Lukuleikki (Reading Game). The Matron of Reading Game is beloved Finnish poetess Kirsi Kunnas. Reading Game emphasizes the importance of family reading together, discuss the books, and through that help the kids to become independently thinking and creative young people.
There is also a website for children, who want to share their reading experiences or write their own stories. You can find it here.
