Those good old Olympics. Methafor for a true sportsman. This year the Olymics will be brought back to where the modern games once started: for the very first time in Athens in 1896.



Actually the `old' Olympics started already thousands of years ago, when the athletes were running around naked throwing their spears and even running a marathon.

The Olympics have been held also in our homelands. In 1928 they took place in Amsterdam and in 1952 in Helsinki. Also Canada and Estonia have been part of these noble games. In 1984, the Winter Olympics were held in Calgray and the watersports events were competed in Tallinn during the Moscow games in 1980.



That's why the editorial team of Helsinki Times thought it appropriate to take you for a `Virtual Tour' in and around the Olympic Stadium of Helsinki, with pictures of the stadiums surroundings taken from the very top of the olympic tower, from where you can see the Finnair Stadium, the IceHockey Hall, the Police Station, and more.
